Left Nose Blocked, Smelling, Doctor Suggested CT Scan PNS Axial. What Is The Reason? Any Treatment For This?
problem is with my mother, has problem with her left nose blocked and smelling, 3-4 days before consult with ENT doctor & he suggested CT scan PNS axial, coronal i want to know the reason and the treatment for this , is anything serious in that please guide
I am Dr Sriram Nathan, an ENT surgeon and will try to help you out with your problem.
Your mother has nose block and the most common cause of nose block apart from cold is a deviated nasal septum which can be clearly seen in a scan of the nose and sinuses.
This is the reason why the doctor has asked for a scan. You should definitely get the scan which will rule out any major problem and also decide on the further course of the treatment. Do not worry about asking for a scan as a scan of the sinuses is one of the basic investigations for an ENT surgeon to offer anyone good treatment for the nose problems.
The scan will also give an idea of the state of the sinuses
So do not fear and go ahead with the scan and you can even get back to me with the reports
hope this helps
regards
Dr Sriram nathan
