Left Groin Has A Bulge. Why Testicle Is Getting Heavy? Why Constipated?

Hiii My name is Ajay /45/male from Delhi, I have noticed a bulge in my left groin 02 years ago. Though its not paining but while passing stool , i feel that my left testicle is getting heavy. I have been diagnosed with ingunial hernia . Though it right now not harming but doctor has told that surgery is the best option. This occurs due to my constant constipation problem. Do you have a remedy for my ingunial hernia or shall I have to go for surgery. Ajay Pant, mail: YYYY@YYYY

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!
There is no remedy for inguinal hernia other than surgery. This surgery is no a big deal at all but result of waiting without surgery may be life treating. If its about hernia, there is always a chance that it can get stuck. This is very urgent condition and leads to intestines necrosis. Moreover, constipations are a risk factor of hernia stuck. Try to imagine that every time you are pushing your abdomen when trying to pass a stool, you are pushing intestines outside the abdominal cavity.
So in your case is to have surgery performed and get rid of constipations (this is as much important as surgery itself). You should also have a colonoscopy if this constipations last for a long time and do not go away.
Hope this will help
Take care

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Akhilesh Dubey's  Response
Hi,
You have inguinal hernia which is reducible and at present no problem but never know when complication like obstruction and/or strangulation takes place then it becomes a emergency .There is no medical therapy for it .You should see a surgeon and go for surgery. If muscles become week then a mesh is required for hernia repair. Avoid constipation by taking high fibre diet and taking lot of water.
