Late Periods, Prescribed Meparate, Still No Period, Confirmed Pregnancy. Can Meparate Effect Child?

Hi my period were late for 10 days. So I went to my doctor he suggested to make meprate tablets 10 mg for 5 days daily 2 tablets. After 10 days still no period. I tested for pregnanacy it came as positive. In ultrasound it is found I am 5.3 weeks pregnanat. Doctor told me, it may be late conception . I am very much worried now. If meprate can effect my child. According to ultrasound I calculated I have taken meprate in 3rd week of pregnanacy. What effect it can have on development of child. Do I neecd to woryy.

hello,

1) MEPRATE contains medroxyprogesterone acetate (progesterone) and it may cause virilization of female fetus if it is continued after 5th weeks when fetal organogenesis takes place.

However, it does not cause any harmful effect before that or around 3rd week. So, you wouldn't be worried.

2) You should consult with your gynecologist regarding this and do periodic check up. Start to take folic acid and vitamins. Do other anomaly scan as per schedule.
