Late Periods, Darker Clots, HPT Negative. Anything Serious?
My period was 5 days late this month, I have gotten it but the flow seems to be lighter than usual and I am finding an increase in small blood clots that are much darker (they look black) than what is normal for me. I am also not experience the same PMS symptoms as normal; I usually have severe cramping and breast tenderness, both of which are absent this month. I took a pregnancy test when I was 3 days late and it came back negative. I am concerned that the sudden changes I am experiencing are an indication of something more serious.
Even if the pregnancy test is negative the chances of a very early missed abortion cannot be ruled out. In such cases, the test comes negative but since the conception has occurred, the menstrual bleeding appears to be heavier and altered colored. If the bleeding pattern is similar to your normal cycle or maybe one or two days extra, there is no need to worry. However if the bleeding is persistent, than a gynec examination and ultrasound is needed to rule out any other cause.
Hope I was able to help you. Do not worry, it is not a serious issue. Have a good day.
