Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Not all cases of spondylolisthesis cases needs surgical fixation. Surgery is indicated only for severe grade slips -Grade 3 & 4 with neurological symptoms in legs.

I personally feel that pregnancy is going to have a negative impact on spondylolisthesis in two ways -
* If it is left untreated, pregnancy will cause more worsening of the slip due to mechanical causes (protruberant abdomen causing a dragging effect on the spine column)
* If it is surgically treated by fixation , more load has to be borne by the implants as a result of exaggerated lumbar lordosis during pregnancy. At times, the more load exerted on the implants may result in breakage or pulling out of the screws.

So pregnancy will affect your problem either ways.

I suggest you to postpone your pregnancy and get your problem treated first (this is my personal opinion only).

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
