may be cause by my diabeties. I have been given a prescription flor Nystatin and Triamcinolne Acetonide for
the second time. I worked well the first time but does not seem to be working. I am confused.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear sir/madam

Diabetes can itching but it rarely causes lumps and swelling, the cause might be due to blockage of secretory ducts.
secondly you have been prescribed steroids with antifungal, you can surely continue it with out doubt but try to avoid taking oral steroids.

Thanks

General & Family Physician Dr. Pavan Kumar Gupta's  Response
Hello,
This persistent vaginal itching can be caused by various factors and uncontrolled diabetes is one of the most common cause for it.However there can be various other causes like...
Skin infections like yeast or STD's
Skin conditions  like eczema,psoriasis etc
Low estrogen levels in menopause or breast feeding
General disorder like thyroid disorders.
Sensitisation of vulval skin to soaps, sanitary wears, condoms, detergents, deodorants, fabric conditioner etc.

Since you are already under the treatment of your gynecologist,so carry on the treatment but do get an opinion from a dermatologist for conditions like eczema or psoriasis or lichen planus etc.

Along with the treatment offered,do the following also...
Control your diabetes meticulously.
Wash your vulva gently every day and dry it completely before putting on underwear.
Underwear should be loose and 100% cotton
Avoid wearing any underwear in night.
Avoid soaps,detergents etc
Avoid shaving pubic hair
Avoid fabric detergents
Use non perfumed toilet tissue paper and sanitary towels
Use petroleum jelly locally.
Avoid condoms lubricated with spermicide.
I hope it helps
Thanks
