Is There Any Natural Alternative To Finasteride For Androgenic Alopaecia?
Dear Doctor,
I am from Kolkata. have been applying minoxidil 5% and taking oral finasteride 1% for the last 5 years for androgenic alopaecia. I have noticed some improvement on my hair growth. Now I am continuing with minoxidil but stopped taking finasteride 1%. because of side effects. Now what should I do? Should I continue with only minoxidil? Or Is there any natural alternative to finasteride? Please help.
Saw-palmetto extract is also recommended for this kind of hair loss. Like finasteride it is also 5 alpha reductase inhibitor but it is derived from natural sources.
It is claimed in a few studies that are available that Saw-Palmetto extract is free from this side effect of decreased libido. Their are many preparations available on prescription of a dermatologist.
take care regards
