THERE ARE A LOT OF REMEDIES FOR HYPERTENSION, BUT FIRST IT IS NECESSARY TO FIND OUT THE CAUSE. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF FACTORS AFFECTING BLOOD PRESSURE. IF IT IS JUST FOR ONE DAY, THEN IT MAY BE DUE TO SEVERE STRESS OR TENSIONS, BUT IF THE PATIENT HAS A HISTORY OF HYPERTENSION, THEN MEDICAL ADVICE IS THE BEST. Home Remedies for High blood Pressure #Powder 100 gm melon seeds and 100 gm poppy seeds (khus-khus). Mix and store in a clean container. Consume 1 tsp with water morning and evening. #A clove of garlic is highly recommended for high blood pressure. Chew one clove of garlic first thing every morning and wash it down with water. The garlic can also be coarsely pound and swallowed with water. #Make a juice of 25-30 curry leaves with 1 cup of water. Strain and drink first thing in the morning. Limejuice can be added for taste. #In the same manner coriander or fenugreek leaves can be tried they won't harm in any way and at the same time one can find out what is best suited to their system. #Mix 1 tsp honey with 1 tsp ginger juice and 1 tsp cumin powder. Have twice a day. # Add one teaspoon of cayenne pepper in half a cup Luke warm water and stir. Drink when required. # Prepare a mixture by adding 1/2 onion juice and 1/2 honey. Take 2 tbls once a day for 1-2 weeks. # Eat 1 Papaya on an empty stomach daily for a month. Do not eat anything after for about 2 hours. # Intake of potassium also helps to maintain the blood pressure. # Some parts of the Laminaria and similar seaweeds are used as a blood-pressure-lowering drug in a preparation called Kombu. # Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) has a tonic effect on the heart and circulatory system. Drink the tea daily, or use lemon balm vinegar on salads. # Take nutmeg or saraswat powder in warm milk. # Take equal parts of Ashwagandha, Valerian, and Gotu kola. Mix well and take 1-3 grams of the powdered herbs with warm water or with ghee. # Being physically active is one of the most important steps to prevent or control high blood pressure. # Reduce salt intake, smoking, alcohol intake and avoid fried foods. # Increase the intake of fruits and green vegetables in the diet. # Reduce stress. # Those who are over weight should try hard to reduce weight. Weight reduction can be achieved through regulation of diet, reasonable and non-tiring exercise. # Morning walk is also very helpful in reducing the blood pressure. Homeopathy 1. Thyroidinum: 12X This is prepared from thyroid gland and is used in a variety of hypertension cases. 2. Nux vomica: 6X Use for intermittent arterial hypertension. 3. Crataegus: This is a nutritional cardiac helper. Use five drops of the mother tincture. Herbal Medicine #Lime blossom (Tilia europea): For treating hypertension associated with arteriosclerosis and anxiety, take an infusion. Pour one cup of boiling water onto one teaspoonful of the dried flowers; leave to infuse ten minutes, filter, and drink. #Hawthorn (Crataegus, various species). Hawthorn has been used as a heart tonic for centuries. #Make a tea by adding one teaspoon of dried hawthorn herb to cup of boiling water. Drink up to two cups a day. #Kudzu (Pueraria lobata). Chinese studies suggest that kudzu helps normalize blood pressure. When a tea containing about eight teaspoons of kudzu root was given daily to 52 people for two to eight weeks, 17 people experienced marked decline in their blood pressure. Kudzu is a powerful antioxidant. It has 100 times the antioxidant activity of vitamin E. Hence it also helps prevent heart disease and cancer. #Garlic (Allium sativum). Garlic is a wonder drug for heart. It has beneficial effects in all cardiovascular system including blood pressure. In clinical studies, garlic has been shown to decrease the systolic pressure by 20-30 mm Hg and the diastolic by 10-20 mm Hg. When people with high blood pressure were given one clove of garlic a day for 12 weeks, their diastolic blood pressure and cholesterol levels were significantly reduced. Eating quantities as small as one clove of garlic a day was found to have beneficial effects in managing hypertension. #The pharmaceutical mechanism of garlic's effect on blood pressure is believed to be related to its effect on the autonomic nervous system, lipid-lowering properties and perhaps its high content of sulphur-containing compounds. Patients with high blood pressure were found to have decreased levels of sulphur-containing amino acids in their plasma. #Use garlic in your cooking, salad, soup, pickles, etc. It is very versatile. #Saffron (Crocus sativus). Saffron contains a chemical called crocetin that lowers the blood pressure. You can use saffron in your cooking. (It is a very popular spice in Arabic cooking.) You can also make a tea with it. Many Indians add a pinch of saffron in the brewed tea to give a heavenly flavor. Unfortunately, it is very expensive. #Valerian (Valeriana officinalis). Valerian is good for hypertension. It contains a chemical called valerenic acid that inhibits an enzyme that breaks down GABA. GABA (Gamma-amino butyric acid) is known to control blood pressure. Its effect on blood pressure may also be from its sedative action. #Mistletoe (Viscum album): Mistletoe is believed to function as a regulator of blood pressure, exerting a healing effect in both hypertension and hypotension. In Europe, mistletoe has often been combined with hawthorn (crataegus) in treating hypertension. Hawthorn Combination Ingredients: Hawthorn berries (Crataegus) - 1 part lime blossom (Tilia europea) - 1 part Yarrow (achillea) - 1 part Oriental/Chinese Herbs Siler and Platycodon Formula (Sang-Feng-Tung-Shen-San): For hypertension accompanied by obesity and constipation. I recently experienced an elevated blood pressure of 198/103 while in the dentist s chair awaiting two surgical extractions. The dentist would not start , understandably so. Thereafter I went to see my primary care doctor, whose nurse practitioner gave me a Clonidine pill and a prescription for it. I was previously taking 100mg of Losartan. once a day without side effects. She has me taking Clonidine twice a day. W hile my blood pressure has significantly lowered, I do not like the effect of this medication, especially taking it twice a day. I feel the Circumstances elevated my pressure. This all occurred on Wednesday. I am going back yo see her today at 2pm. I also take a natural supplement called Michael s Blood Pressure factors, which contains Calcium, Magnesium and Hawthorn Berry. I have also looked into a high blood pressure diet, since I believe nutrition plays a huge part in our well-being. I also regularly walk twice a day. What are your thoughts? Damaris Thomas

Dear Doctor When should I take medication against higher blood pressure? What is doing MIcardis? Are there any symtoms for higher blood pressure? How can I know that I really have the blood pressure? What side effects are from using Micardis? Are my question leading to effectivly anlyse the proble in my issue stated? How my question will help you, doctor to better undestand the issue? What is given now is the age, result of the measurement and the drug suggested as my fri Also the point is that my pressure two months ago is reasonably good 129. My friend take Micardis in the morning I during day time have not symptomd Symtoms are rather when I am in bad and eaven more symptoms in the morning. So the treatment which tke my friend does not have any sense for me, as his medication mostly working during daytime but in the morning have pressure as me. So I believe that without finding the reason of this pressure this medication could be only in some way effective to make lower pressure for some time but a problem of pressure would be existed further. But point is that before any reasonable question it is is good to know what the problem is about. I must understand what is your approach to it to be easy understood by me.

My blood pressure is normal on a daily basis, but high blood pressure and heart disease does run in my family. My concern is in regards to Erectile Disfunction. It is a real self confidence killer! My penis doesn't get fully erect when I'm about to have sex, its hard but not where it can stay up the air hard..excuse the reference. Also some other times it will get hard, but it will not stay that way for long amounts of time. Does anyone know why this could be? I also have trouble staying hard. For example if it slips out, there is a switch of positions,or the slightest distraction, it wont remain hard. I take adderall but don't notice a difference in this when I take it and when I don't. I exercise regularly (4-5x a week) and eat relatively healthy(for a college student). I am stressed a lot and i know that could be a cause of my problems. but does anyone have any ideas? I am 74 years old and have experienced hot flushes since menopause (at age 54). I experience moderate to high blood pressure and most medications for this make my symptoms worse. I have heart palpitations during these uncomfortable symptoms, experience fatigue and have night sweats which wake me up. I have Sjoegren's Syndrome with Sicca, and Peripehral neuropathy and most other aging symptoms. I don't have dementia, thankfully, but I am curious as to whether hot flushes are impacting on my blood pressure and contributing to my anxieties or could it be caused by my thyroid? My tests show a normal reading for my thyroid. I also had cancer of the uterus, grade 1, and had everything removed nine years ago and have remained cancer free to date. I hope you can help me find a way to improve the situation as I don't have any blocked arteries or heart problems so it is a mystery to me. I am worried about the impact it may eventually have on my heart. Sincerely yours,

Hello.
I'm male.
I'm 45 years old and I got high pressure blood since 17. I am currently taking 5 drugs to control (not at all) my high pressure blood.
In a recent Renal Angiography was discovered that I have my left kidney hypotrophic with important loss of parenchyma in the middle and lower thirds.
Analyses of plasma renin revealed that is high.

This hypotrophic kidney (left) is working by 37% and 63% right according to a renal scintigraphy.
The recommendation of my doctor(nephrology) is to get me out my hypotrophic kidney to control the high pressure blood and avoid having to take so many drugs.

What is your opinion on this?
