Is There Added GENERIC Drug To Take With Metformin To Be As Comparable With Kombiglyze?
are there any comparable generic brands for Kombiglyze XR ? . My wife was taking Metformin 1000mg 2x day and the A1C went down from 7.6 to 7.1. but the Dr. wanted lower and decided to issue a prescription for Kombiglyze XR. Problem: CareMark would not cover the cost. where as Meformin is basically free. is there another added GENERIC drug to take with Metformin to be as comparable with Kombiglyze?

2. the said combination causes a serious side effect "Lactic Acidosis", so do consult with your Doctor regarding signs and symptoms of the same and when to seek emergency help.
3.Kombiglyze XR is a prescription medication, and because your health insurance is not covering the cost,still there are plenty of alternatives which you can talk with your Diabetologist or attending Physician, like:
i. Oral anti diabetic drugs Biguanides,Sulfonylureas, Meglitinides,Ergot alkaloids, Thiazolidinediones, Alpha glucosidase inhibitors.
ii. Insulin and other injectable diabetes medications.
iii. Lifestyle changes.
4. Regularly monitor renal function and use minimum effective dose of metformin.
