Is Stomach Cramps, Pain And Menstruation After A Medical Abortion Normal?
i had a medical arbotion ten days ago in a hospital. I took all the medicines that i was given. After four days i had a home urine pregnancy test and it was positive, it made me so worried and i thought i was still pregnant. Now ten days after the abortion i had cramps and stomach pains early today and am bleeding just like during my periods. What could be wrong?
Hello there, Thank you for your question. When you underwent a medical abortion did you bleed? The urine pregnancy test may come positive as the body may still have some beta Hcg which is the hormone responsible for the test to come positive. But the cramping and bleeding now ensures that you are not still pregnant. However it would have been better to get a scan done and confirm that all contents are expelled. Usually a medical termination is followed by a Dilatation and Curettage (D and C) of the uterus to remove all contents. If they did not do it for you then after this period get an ultrasound and take an opinion from your gynaecologist who did your medical abortion. What you are having could just be the body expelling all the contents. Hope this helps. Take care.
