Is Spotting Considered As Periods While Taking Pills?

Hello. Thanks for looking at my question. I am on birth control, Syronx (Alesse) and have been for about 11 years. My last period was only spotting, and would never had seen it if not for a tampon. One pill that month i took 12 hours late, and we used spermicide gel during sex after that I took 4 HPTs, the last one being 3 weeks after day 1 of the spotting. All were negative.
I dont really have pregnancy symptoms, except for some heart burn and abdominal pain. These could be stress related as I am extremely worried about being pregnant.
My next period is due tomorrow and i've some typical symptoms, but of course I am just worried about it since PMS and early preg. Symptoms are similar. Should i get a blood test if i miss this period too?

Is ANY bleeding, even spotting considered a period when you are on the pill? Is 3 weeks after "period" long enough to get an accurate result?
