Is Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding A Symptom Of Menopause?
I am a 50 years 9 months old woman who started period at 11 and had two pregnancies at 26 and 29. Normal Periods but heavy most of my life. For last five years 26 day cycle. This time I've been bleeding for 12 days mostly lightly but wonder if it's the menopause?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. Yes prolonged bleeding could be due to menopause. Actually irregular periods are first sign of approaching menopause. However you should also ruleout other causes of prolonged spotting or bleeding. There are many medical problems that can cause prolonged blleding during menstruation. - Uterine fibroids, non-cancerous growths of the uterus wall - Endometrial hyperplasia, a thickened endometrium - A bleeding or clotting disorder - some cervix abnormality
So you should visit a gynaecologist, for checkup & ruleout of these problem
Hope this information helps
