Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The condition has many causes. The most likely cause depends on your age and whether you are before, during or after
menopause. The most common cause is an abnormal balance of hormones. As you are in a perimenopausal period, there is a certain imbalance of hormones during this period resulting in irregular, heavy bleeding.
Your problem could be that, while you have an adequate supply of estrogens, which causes the buildup of the lining of the uterus, you do not have enough
progesterone to cause the lining to shed for several months. This leads to a large buildup of your endometrium, which is taking a long time to shed.
Ultrasound and
endometrial biopsy should be strongly considered now or in the future if you continue to bleed. And also make sure to check your blood counts to see if you are developing
anemia.
So I will suggest consulting a gynecologist who will certainly be able to help as she will be able to examine you physically.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
