Is Profuse Sweating A Symptom Of Diabetes?

I wake up during the night sweaty and clammy. Goes away. During the day I have episodes of the same thing. I'm on Benicar and Toprol. Is this a sign of diabetes? My oxygen level at times is 92/93-98. I have had a cough off and on for months and dr. won't do chest xray. I am 60...168lb. 5'2

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Profuse sweating should not be symptom of diabetes. Diabetes symptoms consists of weakness, increased urination mainly during night, Increased thirst hunger, etc which are absent in you.
Profuse sweating during night could be because of many reasons as following
1. Infections such as tuberculosis, abscesses, endocarditis, etc could cause night sweats. As you have prolonged cough, you should go for a chest Xray & other tests to rule out tuberculosis.
2. Fever associated with infections or other problems can cause night sweats. Medicines taken to lower fever, such as aspirin and acetaminophen, can sometimes lead to sweating
3. Hormonal problems can lead to Night sweats. menopause is a common hormonal associated problem that could give rise to night sweats.
4. Night sweats could be due to some medications mainly anti-depressants. However according to my knowledge the two medication you are taking should not cause profuse sweating during night.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Persistent cough is most commonly due to post nasal drip, the other common causes are GERD (gastroesophageal reflux) and asthma though there are also other less common causes.

Some persons may not be aware of the drip or reflux but the use of treatment may help to decrease the symptoms.

The sweaty and clammy feeling may be due to a change in blood pressure since you are hypertensive, you should consider monitoring it at this time to see what it reads.
Your doctor can screen for diabetes though these symptoms do not necessarily indicate that you are diabetic.

I hope this helps
