Is permethrin cream effective in killing scabies?

I was just wondering if permethrin cream truly is effective in killing scabies coupled with prednisone for the inflammation? Also, my doc told me to wash any close I had recently worn and bed clothes but not to worry about the furniture. Is it not possible for the mites to get into my couch if I have laid down on it for several hours?

Hello,
Thank you for writing to HCM.
Yes permethrin will definitely help in treating scabies and apply as directed by your dermatologist.
Additionally I would advise oral ivermectin to all the affected members for better results.
Make sure all bedding and clothes are properly washed in warm water though it not necessary to worry much about your couch.
Hope this was useful.
Thank you
