Is Perimenopause Related With Night Sweats, Less Menses Cycle And Insomnia?

Hello, My periods have been closer together now. Went from 28 days always when younger, to 26, 23, 21, 18, now it s 13 days. 13 days just started yesterday for first time. Those numbers happened gradually, over last 2 yrs. I also suffer from night sweats. I have insomnia. Used to sleep like sleeping beauty once apron a time.I have been getting vaginal sweating occasionally too. Is this peri menopause?

Hallow Dear,

Sweating, hot flushes, disturbance in sleep rhythm can happen at premenopausal age. This happens due to diminution in oestrogen hormone and Calcium with Vitamin D. However, the menstrual cycle becomes irregular with more and more gaps between the two cycles.

If you are getting your cycles so frequently and irregularly, please do not attribute it to the perimenopausal or premenopausal changes. It could be due to some tumour like fibroid uterus in the uterus or hyperplasia of the endometrium. Endometrial hyperplasia at this age should be thoroughly examined for any possibility of malignancy or premalignant changes.

Initial ultrasonography will be quite informative. It will show up any tumour; also it can show the endometrial thickening. If needed hysteromicroscopy may be performed. Endometrial hyperplasia should be submitted for histopathology examination.

Please report to your Gynaecologist ASAP.

I hope this gives you the required message.
