Hi, I have a herniated cervical disc (disc is slightly touching nerve) between c4-c5 confirmed by MRI.
I am have physio to try and help with headaches and continual sore neck muscles. Could the nerve be causing the neck problems if so would surgery be more appropiate than physo.
I don't think surgery is needed. Usually it's treated with physio as well as analgesis for the pain, at times drugs to relax the muscles as well. Usually surgery is reserved only for cases when the disc compresses the spinal cord (not your case), while for nerve root compression it is considered only in cases resistant to treatment.
