Hi I recently missed my period. I am 47 years old and my periods have always been on time and regular with no problems over the years. I have 2 healthy children. I had a tubal ligation after my last child was born in 2004. The doctor told me there was very little chance that I would ever get pregnant again in the future. I am concerned that I could be possibly pregnant. I have never missed a period since my last child was born until now. Could I possibly be entering Menopause? No hot flashes yet no vaginal spotting or anything but the discharge is a clear white. Sometimes, I feel very slight cramps in lower abdominal area but the cramps are very very slight and it seems very light and it s not bothersome whatsoever. I am scared because this is how I felt when I was pregnant. Also, my breasts are tender and somewhat sore but not severely? Do you think this is the start of menopause? I recently bought a pregnancy test to find out if I could possibly be pregnant but I would be very surprised since I had a tubal ligation ten years ago and I have never missed a period till now. I am going to take the pregnancy test on Monday since by then I will be a week late with my period. I would appreciate your thoughts on this. Do you think it s menopause or possibly pregnancy or something else? What percentage of tubal ligations fail after 10 years? I would appreciate any help you could give me. I plan on following up with my doctor as soon as I find out the results of my pregnancy test. Thanks so much for your help.
The age at which menopause is attained is based on several factors including genetic and environmentally. Usually, it is 51in west but it depends.
And see menopause is a retrospective diagnosis. You need 1 year of amenorrhea to say it is menopause. Might be menopause transition.,kindly consult your ob-gyn doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
