Is Lower Rib Pain Sign For Costochondritis?

I have been diagnosed with costochondritis and prescribed naproxen. The pain is located midway on the lower right rib, it is mild but long lasting (hours, days, it became more frequent, and now it is there almost all the time). Sometimes starts when I am under stress. Sometimes it is accompanied by nausea. Mild physical activity used to help (cleaning back-yard etc.). All the “goodies” like heart, liver, gallbladder disease have been ruled out. I keep telling my PHP that the cause could be wrong posture, and besides naproxen, other measures should be taken to address the root cause,.. if indeed this is costochondritis. Any suggestions, could be misdiagnosis? What should I watch to either help support the diagnosis or point into the right direction??

Hello,

Lower rib pain is commonly a sign of muscle strain, injury/fracture, IBS, costochondritis, etc.

You are suggested to take small meals multiple times a day. Avoid spicy, junk, packaged food, cot on alcohol, smoking & addictions if any.

You can take antacids, PPI's & analgesics for relieve.

Visit ER, get physically examined to detect the pathology causing the discomfort. You will have to go through the blood tests, x-rays, ECG, etc.

You will be treated according to the severity of pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
