Hello,

A lot of organ failures can cause swelling of the legs. They are serious and are treatable with medical attention. Liver, lung, heart or kidney failure can all do that, mostly it is treatable.

With heart failure in the last 50 years, the disease went from as fatal as widespread cancer (about 5 years) to not necessarily affecting life expectancy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
