Is It Safe To Take Second Dose Of Augmentin And Citralka During Pregnancy?
My wife has been treated for E-Coli (105 cfu/ml) with Cap Augmentin 625 mg twice a day for 7 days with Syr Citralka 2TSP thrice a day. In follow-up urine test, it still detected E-Coli (104cfu/ml), probably ESBL producer, resistant to all the beta lactum antibiotic and Aztreonam, susceptible to one of the beta lactam – beta lactamase combinations and Carbapenems. Are these safe to take 2nd dose of antibiotic in 7 week pregnancy? Did we take correct anti-biotic as first treatment? Complete Urine Exam shows S. Turbid appearance, Sediment trace, Leucocyte Present+, PUS Cells 5-6/hpf, Epithelial Cells 12-15/hpf, RBCS 2-3/hpf, HAEMOLYZED BLLOD - Present+. What are options, remedies and risk. Besides she has recurring cough but non-productive, which didn’t gets covered by first dose of anti-biotic. Any line of medication with least use of drugs possible?

Augmentin is safe during pregnancy,so is all the drugs under penicillin group. Hence, a repeat dose can be taken if prescribed by your doctor. Citralka syrup is also safe during pregnancy. Your wife can take the syrup 2 tsps mixed in half a glass of water and should be taken.
