Is It Safe To Take Dulcolax For Constipation In 10th Week Of Pregnancy?

Hi,
My wife is 10 weeks pregnant and terribly constipated. Would it be safe for her to use a stimulant laxitive(Dulcolax) just to have a bowel movement? She will begin taking Colace nightly with her prenatals after this movement to hopefully avoid future issues. Thanks.

Hello!
Thanks for your query.
Dulcolax has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA.Animal studies have failed to reveal evidence of teratogenicity or fetogenicity.
She must endure until she become 12 weeks without any medication .
Dulcolax should only be used to provide short -term relief from constipation.
She need to;
Eat a plenty diet with fruits and vegetables
drink water 1,5-2 l per day
getting regular gentle exercise
go to the toilet as soon as she feel she need to
can help maintain good bowel function.
Take care of her
