Hello welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Tab
digoxin is actually a double edged sword like drug. It has benefits as well as side effects on usually similar frequency. It has been prescribed to you most probably because of AF(atrial fibrillations). Enlarged
aorta means simple enlargement or
aneurysm and of which part that is very important and you should mention it for further guidance.
My advice to you is -
1. Tab digoxin works excellently in cases of atrial fibrillations. So you can continue it. But beware of side effects of digoxin, which usually starts with
vomiting, palpitations, uneasiness.
2 . Whenever this type of symptoms occur ask your doctor about blood digoxin levels and routine ECG. Treatment is available for digoxin toxicity so don't worry.
3. I usually prescribed digoxin to my patients for 5 days in a week (no tab on sat-sun). Most of them do not have any side effects. Ask your doctor also about this type of dosage.
4.Tab
atenolol also works very well in atrial fibrillations and also some other tablets are available. So if your
heart rate will remain controlled your doctor can stop Tab digoxin gradually if other parameters favours.
Thank you.
Have a nice day.
