Is It Safe To Fly With A Hematoma In Leg Around Calf Bone?

Is it safe to fly with a hematoma on leg just below knee and off to side did it 2 weeks ago and doc said it has jellified and spread around leg and down calf bone. I am on blood thinners for me heart. Leg seems to have got a lot sorer with time, sometimes feel like I am going to pass out with pain when I stand up. I also have bad fibromyalgia so you would think that the pain killers I am taking for that (Oxycontin and gaberpentan) would take care of the pain but it s not.Any advise would be greatly appreciated.Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You can safely fly without any concerns. But you have to make sure that DVT has to be ruled out before starting the flight. A venous Doppler has to be done prior to the flight.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
