Is It Risky For Not Giving My Child Polio Drops Considering He Was Given Vaccinations Administered By The Doctor?

my child is 7 yrs old and has never been given the pulse polio drops - other than those administered by his doctor during vaccination cycles. Is there a huge risk to his health?

My baby is 5 months old and she missed the pulse polio drops in January. Is she at risk?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Pulse polio drops should be given in children till 5 years of age in addition to routine vaccination.
Relax,there is nothing to worry.
But in future give drops to your daughter.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hi,
Welcome to Health Care Magic, thanks for posting your query with us.
I understand your concern.

Pulse polio drops is generally a part of the vaccination schedule, Please make sure if your doctor has already administered it in the vaccination cycles which child recieved. If not there might be a slight risk depending on the country you live in and the exposure to polio cases and virus.
even now your 7 year old can recieve polio vaccination, a total of 3 shots are given and a booster dose is given after 1 and a half month after 1st shot. meet your pediatrician who will assist you with this.
You say that your 5 month old baby has missed taking it in january, no need to be worried because you can always get the next scheduled dose or you could consult a pediatrician and ask him to administer the dose.
The polio drops taken on scheduled doses till age 5 can prevent and totally eliminate the risk of developing polio in the future. So its better if you follow this for your 5 month old baby.

Hope this helps and answers your query satisfactorily, Do write back to us if you need further assistance.
Wishing them both good health,
Take care .
Regards.
