Is It Possible That Sinus Congestion Is The Cause Of Morning Sickness In A Diabetic Person?
My husband was diagnosed with diabetes 2 several months ago. He is maintaining his sugar levels well ( 80 - 120 usually and tests once daily upon waking in the am). However in the past three days he has developed balance issues so he saw his MD who told him to get some motion sickness meds and mentioned this was part of the disease. He didn't explain why this is showing up so we don't know what to do to regarding decreasing it (diet, exercise, more water??) We have been thinking it may be due to sinus congestion since he has allergies and he does seem congested. He is taking a decongestant and drinking more water. Could it also be dehydration since he loves decaf iced tea?
Based on the symptoms there are 2 possibilities. Firstly it may be an issue with his ear and sinus because he has nasal congestion and pre existing sinus problem. I would advice an END evaluation and treatment. Secondly blood sugar may be a cause. It is not uncommon in a patient on drugs for diabetes. Your husbands blood sugar is well controlled. In this situation he may need a dose reduction based on the blood sugars. Consult your doctor regarding this.
