Is It Normal To Have Lump Under The Skin Of A Torn Muscle?

Hi. I have a nodule on my right tibia bone. My leg had been bruised and swollen for a few weeks after I had overtrained myself. My doctor told me I had shin splints that eventually turned into a large tear in the muscle. Is it normal to experience a sensitive lump under the skin when you tear a muscle?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The lump under the skin at the site of a torn muscle is usually seen due to the retracted muscle fibers and a hematoma formation. This gradually resolves on its own as the tear heals.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal, Orthopaedic Surgeon
