Is It Normal To Have High Fever For Long Duration Of Time?

Hi My father (52) was suffering from Jaundice but after his full medication when he came back within a week he got high fever (102-103 celsius) . His tests are done again then TLC and Puss cell count is high from 2 days ,he is having continous high fever. Doctor has given some medicines. So is it normal to have such high fever for so long.

Hi..

NO- it is not common to have high grade fever for so long.

Please see the Doctor to get your father examined on clinical basis and lab investigations if required.

The other cause of fever has to be found out ASAP and a proper treatment instituted.

Simultaneously watch for liver function tests and go for ultrasonography of abdomen.

Think of malaria as a common reason for jaundice and fever together.
