Is It Advisable To Stop Taking Gliclazide When Your Blood Sugar Is Normal?
I am a diabetic and my blood sugar level was so high my G.P. put me on four 80 mg a day (Glitclazide). My blood glucose is now normal, can I come off the Gliclazide completely or do I have to wean myself off. My blood glucose at the moment is 4 to 5.
Stopping gliclazide is a bad option. The sugars are normal because you are taking tablets. The wise thing to do would be to check your blood sugars often and fine tune dosage or reduce dosage as per the sugar readings. If you have been diagnosed recently there is a good chance that you can reduce the dose to a great extent. Hope i have answered your query.. All the very best Dr.Riyaz Sheriff
