Is Big Chest A Symptom Of Gynecomastia?

hi doc, I think I have gyno, but I don't have puffy nipples or anypain in my chest. I have been obese most of my life and lost about 80lbs in the last year, I'm now 5'11 175lbs and my chest is still really big. I went to a doctor at 18 and he said if I lost weight they would go away. could I have gynocomasita?

Hello and welcome to HCM!
I do understand your concern and i am trying to give you some more information.
You didn't mention your actual age, but i have to say that during adolescence most males do have gynecomastia wich resolves after age 18. The fact that you lost weight is very important and would have resolved gynecomastia, but if it really persists it means that you should do some examinations to rule out any hormonal cause.
Prolactine is the hormone responsible for the breast development, a low thyroid function, testosterone and estradiol level are the first main examinations recommended in your case.
If every thing is normal, than gynecomastia is called idiopathic and you may go under estetic surgery.
