Is Any Special Diet Plan Required To Lower The Cholesterol Levels In A 58-year-old?

My son who is 58 years old has high cholesteral over 200 and his dr switched medical to Lipitor. Is that a good medication? He frequently goes to the bathroom and through the night.. He said after taking lipitor, he doesn t go during the night. Should he take a special diet for high cholestrol?

Lipitor is a good drug to help reduce cholesterol levels. But, total cholesterol levels are not a true indicator of his cardiovascular risk and dyslipidemia. I would like to directly review his blood lipid profile for a second opinion.

If his Total cholesterol/HDL ratio or LDL/HDL ratio is within the normal ranges, I would not recommend taking Lipitor or any other statins.
