Is Anxiety A Cause For Concern?

I have anxiety. At my Dr appt. yesterday my bp was 138/96 and my pulse rate 98. Previous 2 appointments over last year or so was 138/96 and 138/94. I'm concerned, but doctor just seems to think anxiety, yet due to anxiety I can feel my heart racing multiple times throughout the day. I feel sick.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

I can understand the distress you might be having due to anxiety. Anxiety disorders can lead to multiple symptoms like worries, palpitations, sweating, tremors, Blood pressure fluctuations, etc.

I suggest you seek a psychiatric consultation for the same. Baseline investigations like complete blood counts, thyroid profile and ECG would be required to rule out any underlying medical conditions. Treatment with medications like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors will be helpful in your condition. In addition, you should start exercising daily. That will help in reduction of anxiety.

Hope this information was helpful. Best wishes.
