If your doctor's recommendation was NOT to take antibiotic then, that is because he does not believe it will help and the fever and malaise is likely caused by a viral process which will get better on its own. 101 degrees is not necessarily inconsistent with what can be seen in viral infections and if there's been no other signs per the doctor of a bacterial infection then, antibiotics will not help. If you are further concerned about what's going on or need additional reassurance on things you should contact her doctor and discuss the situation. He knows her clinical facts better than anyone and should be able to explain further why antibiotics are not necessary. Keep her well hydrated and as necessary something to keep her nausea under control. Please rate this a 5 STAR ENCOUNTER and write me at: www.bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi with further questions.
