Is Anteverted Relatively Homogeneous Uterus Containing Fibroid The Reason For Heavy Periods?

Hi I am a 48 yr old insulin dependent female, I have had diabetes since the age of 12. I have been on and insulin pump for 2 1/2 yrs. My quesition is I had a pelvic us and a transvaginal u/s. which said Anteverted relatively homogeneous uterus containing a solitary posterior fundal fibroid which has increased in size to a minimal extent as noted above. The endometrial stripe is prominent at 15mm. Is this the reason why my periods are so heavy? What does this mean?
