Irregular Periods, Had Sex, Experiencing Light Spotting.

I have always had irregular periods, and when I do have sex, we are extremely cautious because I am not on the pill. I have never had unprotected sex. However, after skipping my period last month, I have been experiencing very light spotting that has lasted about a week. It is never very much but I still notice a pink/brown color. I have read that this can be brought on by having irregular periods but I am still concerned. My mom had a tumor on her uterus so I am concerned. It is also worth mentioning that I have been under tremendous stress adjusting to new college classes and this new schedule. What is going on with my body?

Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,

Exactly, stress can induce irregular menstruation. If you have ruled out all possibilities of pregnancy, then the only other condition that could have induced irregular prolonged bleeding is STRESS. Situations such as lifestyle changes, diet changes etc can provoke this and cause some teenage or college girls to have irregular menses.
I suggest that you give sometime and your menstruation will stabilize. If it does not, then you will have to consult a gynobs so that you can examined, then provided with some oral contraceptives to stabilize your menstrual flow.

Hope this helps
