Infection under nail, is this required nail removal surgery ?
i had a painful nail infection of my left toe, and it did not respond to the antibiotics. finally the doc advised to under go nail removal surgery, is this the surgery required ? do infection under the nail require removal
Yes, if the nial infection is there and not reponding to antibiotics. The nail will be removed. This also happened to me also in last year. I got the nail removed, the infection subsided and now i have got new nail.
I had surgery on my big toe the end of july. Had toe nail removed. Anyways, it s still not healed. About 5 yrs ago I MRSA in that toe nail, hence the reason why I had to have it removed. I think it s definitely infected again and I think I have blood poisoning. I have a red line going fromantic my toe clear up to my ankle. Not feeling good at all. Started throwing up this morning and started running a low grade temp. Do I need to be concerned more tHan I already am? Should I take a picture and send it into you. My doctor doesn t seem to be concerned. I would be willing to bet my life that if you tested it for MRSA it would come back positive. It s still weeping also......it s been 3 month on October 27th. Can you please help or tell me what I should? I m 42 yrs old, don t smoke don t drink I ve been drug free for 7yrs. I had gastric bypass in 2002 and it s compromised my amun system. My email is YYYY@YYYY . Thank you
Hi I am Sonali, suffering from Ingrown toe nail problem for past 3-4 years. So last Oct 11, both my toe nails were removed as I had developed infection. But after the surgery again I have developed the same problem in my right toe as my nails are grown. Can you suggest some remedy please.
A few months ago my big toe on my left foot had an ingrown toenail that became infected so I broke down and finally had it removed. It s been fine up until just today when I noticed it hurt to put pressure on it. Just now I touched it and squeezed and a white, sticky, sour-smelling fluid came out. I m not sure if it s another infection or not. The other night I did hit it on something when I was getting into my car. Could that be what is causing it to ooze this discharge? Like I said I haven t had any problems with it since I had the surgery just until today. Please help! Thank you, Macee.
My son was diagnosed with orchitis or epididymitis. My problem is that he always gets this immediately following an ingrown toenail infection. Also, his left side lower abdomen hurts more than his left testicle. He was given antibiotic injections, one each day for three days, and 5 days of azithromycin. This is the fourth time he has had this and it get worse each time. He is 12 years old. The urologist said yesterday that this just happens sometimes. What does that even mean??? He is finished with the antibiotics and seems a little better, but not like he usually is after the antibiotics.
I peeled away a piece of my fingernail yesterday and I hit the nail bed, it is now pushing up through the hole in a raised red lump. I did this back 20 years ago in high school and at the time they removed the whole nail, saying the pressure had to be released for this to heal. I really don t want to go through that again, my question is, is it possible for the nail bed swelling to eventually go back down under the hole on its own, or is the only option once it swells up like that is to remove the nail?
Dr Grief, my grandson is getting infected ingrown toenails. We soak, he has had surgury and he continues to get them. He has been getting urgent care and sulfa drugs to treat the various infections. This happens on both toes. He has been on antibiotics for the toes at least 4 times in past few months. First for one toe then the other. Are the wrong drugs being prescribed? Why is this continuing. He is 11 yrs old.
