Infant Passes White Discharge, Stresses During BM. Is USG Required? Is It A Congenital Problem?
Hello doctor My 8mnth old son passes whitish discharge mixed with urine frequently since last 4 mnths. Discharge is only present when he stresses a lot or while passing stools...un between he passes normal urine. There is no fever or painful micturition...and he is normal n healthy otherwise..his urine routine was normal. Kindly advise...is it some congenital prob .is an USG required
Hello Most common cause of white discharge in urine is phosphaturia, a condition in which there is excess amount of phosphate in urine. It is a benign condition and usually improves by increasing fluid intake. This may also be due to UTI or some other secretion in urine. As there is history for last 4 months and no symptoms are suggestive of UTI most likely it is phosphaturia. Even then I would suggest you to consult a doctor to get a urine examination done. An USG examination may also be needed to rule out some congenital abnormalities as this occurs when stresses. Regards
