Increased Sugar Level(141 To 174) After Skipping Medication, Glipizide. If Pregnant Would The Baby Be Affected?

I got 141 on Friday morning and 174 on Monday morning glucose level and I think I might be pregnant. I also think that on Monday was my baby's implantation date. Is the baby still fine? While taking Glipizide, my sugar level is better. I did not take it for one day because I was concerned if it was good or not for the baby so I only followed diet for that day without medication and then the next morning the glucose level was 174. Thank you!

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this troubling thoughts about your sugar levels and the possible effects on your baby. NO, your baby cannot be affected by this one time increase in sugar level from 141 to 174. However, you should always take your treatment as prescribed so as to avoid pregnancy complications linked to diabetes like macrosomic babies and associated complications.

Glipizide is generally not advised during pregnancy. Please talk to your doctor and make sure it is the best decision at this time if other alternatives like diet and insulin aren't possible.

I hope you find this helpful and it addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. I wish you the best of health.
