In Winter, Toes, Fingers Become Red, Swollen, Painful And Itchy, Skins Peels Off, Get Discolored And Darker.

Hi, I get this problem every winter. My toes and sometimes my fingers become red ,swollen, painfull and itchy. They become very itchy when I keep them warm. At the end of winter my skin begins to peel of leaving the area discolored and darker. I have been to a doctor and he says it has something to do with blood circulation.

Hi,
It is quite common to find your kind of problem in winters which is known as Raynaud's phenomenon. It is due to sudden cold exposure and rapid rewarming after that. For the relief you wear cotton socks in twin layers with best of cold protection. Do not rewarm the area rapidly on heaters or warmers. You can take a pain killer such as paracetamol by mouth for one to two times a day.
