You need to eat a good balanced diet with iron and protien rich foods. If the levels are still low, then they would have prescribed you medications to continue. Do not stop taking medications on your own. Go for regular follow ups. Keep your sugars under control.

My sister has been anemia most of her life. She is on iron tablets. A month ago she had a fall at work and ended up with a hairline tear in her knee. Then she slipped on the crutches and fell again and brushed her opposite side from the wet walkway. She is now using a cane. She has not had any treatment for the tear in her knee as of yet. When she did her annual blood work it came back with much improvement in her iron to the point she was not anemic; but her red blood count was low. Doc has referred her to a urologist....what could be up. He says he is being extra causious and not to worry....

My husband s red blood count is 4.46. He is 81 years old and has congestive heart failure (but is in good shape because he has a pacemaker). We just found out that he has high blood sugar (234). His iron is good. What would be the possible cause of a low red blood count? Thank you.

Dear Sir, three days ago I had my blood count and the number of my white blood cells was 9,3 (the maximum is 10), but what worries me is that the number of my eosinophils was much above the range: it was 1,26 (the range: 0,04 — 0,40). In percentage it is 14 % (the range: 0 — 5). I would also like to add that the rest of my blood results were perfect, nothing over the range. I am only concerned about my eosinophilia, should I be worried about it in a situation when everything else in my blood work is ok? Also, I suffer from ulcerstive colitis but I am in full remission. Thank you so much for taking your time reading it and I would greatly appreciate your reply, best regards, Cosima
