How Will Methamphetamine Taken During Early Pregnancy Affect The Fetus?
I m a nurse and in my spare time I try and help adults get on the right track and healthy lifestyles, success rate with outside resources so far have been 98%. I am helping a 22 year old mother of 2 and last week she went to ER and tests showed she was 3 months pregnancy, she also has Hep C since last pregnancy 2 years ago and she has disclosed the use of crystal meth, by needles times 5 during early pregnancy. What is the risk of a deformity, brain injury to her fetus? I don t know what to encourage her to do, she only did drugs with this baby she is carrying and he is out of her life and she is clean, any suggestions, please is there a early treatment for Hep C, if she was to terminate her pregnancy, what is the risk to her if she carries the baby and delays treatment YYYY@YYYY

Animal studies shows minor risks and human studies not available or neither animal or human studies done. Caution is always in this drug. It is a category-C drug in pregnancy. She should now really take care of her health i.e., by having healthy food [salads, fruits, juices, vegetables, avoid caffeine, drugs, alcohol, nicotine, smoking etc]. Learn some sukshm yoga. Researches show reversal of fetus effects if sahaj breathing meditation of 'Art of Living' is done in pregnancy.
