How To Treat Severe Case Of Sleep Apnea?

hi, my name is cherie and i am 40 years old. 2 years ago i was diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea. I have tried the CPAP and cannot tolerate it at all! I am constantly tired and only work part time due to this. My doctor has no answers and i am very desperate for help as i cannot live like this any more. Is it worth seeing a ENT specialist?? thank you

HI THANKS FOR POSTING YOUR QUERY ON HEALTHCARE MAGIC.
YOUR SYMPTOMS ARE QUITE RIGHTLY SUGGESTIVE OF "OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA SYNDROME".THIS SYNDROME CAN PRODUCE DISTRESSING SYMPTOMS. CPAP CANNOT PRODUCE LONG LASTING RESULTS.CPAP IS CONTINOUS POSITIVE AIRWAY PRESSURE .THE DEFINITIVE MANAGEMENT IN YOU CASE WOULD BE RECONSTRUCTION OF YOUR PALATE .SURGICAL OPTIONS INCLUDE "PALATOPHARNGOPLASTY".I ADVICE YOU TO UNDERGO "POLYSOMNOGRAPHY" TO ASSESS THE DIAGNOSES.HYPNOTICS/SEDATIVES WOULD BE OF HELP.OTHER MEASURES INCLUDE REDUCTION OF BODY WEIGHT ,REGULAR PHYSICAL EXERCISE,AVOIDING SMOKING,AVOIDING ALCOHOL.YOU SHOULD CONSULT AN EXPERT E.N.T. SURGEON FOR YOUR HELP.
THANK YOU.
TAKE CARE.
