A cyst in the ovary can mean a number of things, one of them being cancer. In order to have some idea of its nature, you need to get a blood test called CA-125. If its raised, then there are chances that it harbours cancer and you need to get the cyst removed. If it is normal, and the cyst is not increasing in size on serial monthly ultrasounds, and if there is no solid area within the cyst on the ultrasound, then you have nothing to worry about.
