How To Treat A Green Mucus Coming From Nose That Was Followed By A Headache?
I have a smelly, green mucus coming from my nose, just my left nostril to be exact. It's been draining now for a week. Before it started draining I had a very bad headache and pressure over my left eye for about 2 weeks. Can you tell me what this could be?
Hi, thank you for asking healthcare Magic. With this presentation, I think the most probable diagnosis is sinusitis, which is an inflammation of bone cavities located within some bones of the skull (frontal bone in this case). This might be a complication of common cold. These cavities drain into your nostrils and that is why the mucus is coming out from your nostrils. Confirmation of the diagnosis might require an X-ray or CT scan. Treatment may involve the use of antibiotics, anti inflammatory drugs, decongestants and maybe mucolytic agents (to breakdown the mucus). In my opinion, I would suggest you go to a family doctor or ENT specialist for proper management.
I hope that answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. We will be delighted to answer more questions from you. I wish you good health
