How To Make A Person Accept Having Social Anxiety Disorders?

Hi I am from Mumbai and so I'd like to ask my question to Dr jknon your panel of Doctors. From what I have learnt of Social Anxiety Disorders, I know that my mother does suffer from it. I have tried explaining it to her but she would not accept it. Her family has a history of medical disorders. I just want to ask what would be a better way to get her to treat herself in such a situation. She is 48 yrs old. It is causing a lot of strain to the family.
Please advise.: Priya

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

In that case, she needs antidepressant like paroxetine or escitalopram with benzodiazepine. That would help to control social anxiety. She can also try some relaxation exercise like JPMR or deep breathing exercise that would help her calm in tense situation. You should consult a psychiatrist for proper management. In case, you need further help, you can ask.

Thanks
