How To Deal With Severe Pain Caused By Contraceptive Plant In Arms?

Hi, I had the contraceptive implant put in on Wednesday last week. I have really bad bruising and in quote a lot of pain with it. They have placed the implant on my left arm just above my elbow. When I bend my arm it sticks out quite a lot and is really sore. Is this normal ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The implant usually placed just below the skin and sometimes cause pain and soreness especially on the initial days. You can take analgesics, like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac for pain. Generally it will subside in couple of days. If pain persist, better to consult your gynecologist and get it removed and plan re-implantation.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
