How To Cure Flaky Skin And Itchiness Of The Ear Canals?

I have a recurring problem with my ears. The skin is flaky, and the ear canals itch terribly. It itches all the way to my ear drum. Also, my ears become impacted all the time. It happens more in the right ear than the left. And I know you aren t supposed to stick foreign objects in there, but it will hurt so badly until I get the clog out. The clogs are white with black around the edges, and look more like plastic almost than earwax. I get vertigo all of the time too. I ve gone to my doctor for it, and he keeps telling me it s swimmers ear, gives me the don t go swimming, dry your ears with a hair dryer on low setting, and the medications for swimmers ear. I take the meds and follow the advice, but it doesn t ever go away. Four years ago, I tore my left eardrum in an accident and had to have it surgically fixed. I m 29, 153 lbs and 4 foot 5 inches. I m allergic to yeast, eggs, codiene, dextromorphathan, zithromycin, penicillen, and amoxicillan. I also work at a state park that is located at the highest point in my state.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to dermatitis. I recommend using antihistamines daily such as Levocetirizine to relieve the itchiness. I also recommend you to use Calpine lotion for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
