How To Control My Low Heart Rate And Inactive Thyroid?

I m seeing a cardiologist currently because of a low heart rate. During my visits I have had several tests, which did find I had an inactive thyroid, which I m on medication for the last year. It hasn t made any improvement in the heart rate. they have checked oxygen levels and they seem to be ok. My rate is approximately 46 - 56 during the day. My doctor is recommending a pace maker. I am 63 and I have no medical history due to being adopted. What would you recommend?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your question and understand your concern
Let me know your latest thyroid function tests?

If your thyroid function on medication is normal, your low heart rate may not be related your under active thyroid. Since your heart rate is very low and you are symptomatic I suggest you to go with the pace maker as suggested by your cardiologist.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
With warm regards,
Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM)
