Hello
Previously your mother were diagnosed as
pneumonia patient and now tuberculosis .
Some diagnostic tools for
PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS are:
=Sputum exam for Acid Fast Bacilli ( AFB)
Direct microscopy of the sputum to detect AFB is the most important tests for patientsw/suspected ptb.
At least 3 sputum specimens must be submitted preferably on 3 consecutive mornings.
=
Bronchoscopy ( as they did in your mother case).
=Chest
X ray =Sputum for culture and sensitivity test.
=Polymerase chain reaction ( PCR)
One advantage of the test is the speed of the results.
=Purified Protein Derivative (PPD)-Tubeculin Skin Test.
So all these tests are for the confirmation for PTB .
Blood for C B C , E S R ( if very high > 100 m suggestive ).
History , physical examination by chest & tuberculosis specialist .
So consult a Chest & tuberculosis specialist and get his opinion.\
Good luck.
