How To Confirm A Successful Medical Abortion?

I am 20 years old. Healthy female. No medical conditions. Found out I was pregnant, went to an abortion clinic. I was given an ultrasound to which no one saw anything because I was so early in my pregnancy. I was given a IM injection of methotrexate and sent home with 8 misoprostol tablets to be used vaginally over 48 hours. It's been 24 hours since I completed the misoprostol regimen. I had some cramping off and on, no bleeding. I did however have a thick yellowish/greyish discharge when wiping once. Since then I haven't seen anything or felt any pain. I am feeling very well, no other syptoms. Is it possible the nonsurgical abortion isn't working? Or is this sometimes normal in early pregnancy?

Hello,
Since no gestation sac was found in the sonogram performed, the presence of pregnancy is questionable. You should also get an estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres as this is more reliable than a HPT. If pregnancy is confirmed, it is likely that the sonographer may have missed an early pregnancy. After the dosage of medication given, abortion should ensue without any hassle. If you are too early in your pregnancy, the discharge will be very less. Follow up sonogram and a clinical exam will help to confirm the completion of the abortion process. Hope this helps.
